Wake County Information
Wake County is located in central North Carolina and is the ninth fastest growing county in the United States. With a lower than average unemployment rate and a rapidly growing population, Wake County is a great place to live and visit. Wake County is also home to the city of Raleigh, which is also the capital of the state.
If you are a history buff or just love to learn, Wake County has numerous different museums to keep you entertained. Three of the main museums include the North Carolina Museum of Art, Natural Sciences, and History. There is also a children's museum, Marble's Kids Museum, to keep the little ones engaged.
If you are into sports, then Wake County would definitely be a destination for you. The National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes are located in Raleigh and play at the RBC Center. Wake County is also host to a minor league baseball team, the Carolina Mudcats, which is a Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Of course, you can't talk sports in North Carolina without mentioning college basketball. North Carolina State University, a member of the NCAA, plays its home games at the RBC Center.
If you are ready to get out and get some exercise for yourself, look into visiting one of the three state parks located in Wake County. These parks, Fall Lake State Recreation Area, William B Umstead State Park, and the Jordan Lake State Recreation area, all have a wide variety of activities to get you outside and enjoying the scenery of this amazing county.
