Collin County, Texas is a unique mix of high tech industry and old west tradition. Collin County has something going on almost all of the time, no matter where in the county you happen to be. McKinney, the county seat, is located just 30 miles away and is one of the largest historic sites in the state. Visit the Farmer's Market in Chestnut Square Historic Village to enjoy fresh, local produce and grass-fed meats; or spend a day hiking, biking or picnicking at the Old Settlers Aquatic Center.

Fans of the old "Dallas" television show can make a pilgrimage to Southfork—the ranch where the show was filmed—and tour the house and grounds or even stay for a special event. For the adventurous, there are hot air balloon companies that will take you "up, up, and away" or, if that's a little too adventurous, you can watch one of the two hot air balloon shows the county hosts each year.

Don't worry about a place to stay. Collin County has a bevy of welcoming bed and breakfasts, excellent motels, and campsites galore. Not looking for action in the county? No problem.
