Dallas County Information

As home to the sprawling Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Dallas County has nearly 2.5 million residents. This Texas county is a unique blend where an old fashioned way of living merges with fast-paced city life. Dallas County also serves as home base to some of the nation's biggest corporations, such as Exxon Mobil, Texas Instruments, and Radio Shack, to name just a few. But when you come to Dallas, it's not all work. There are also a lot of great restaurants featuring all types of cuisine, fabulous shops ranging from vintage to upscale, and plenty of entertainment venues as well. Popular attractions include the Dallas Zoo, the Dallas Aquarium, and the Sixth Floor Museum where you can learn more about John F. Kennedy. If you're looking for a bit of culture, you could visit the Dallas Museum of Art which features Monet and Matisse originals. Or, if you want to let loose, you might hit up one of the many locales featuring live music, or you could check out the other options on Dallas County's night life scene. There are plenty of bars and clubs to be found, with some of the most popular along Greenville Avenue in the city of Dallas.

Dallas County also has plenty for outdoor enthusiasts to do as well. Rock Lake Park, with its 1,000 acres, is a favorite among locals, and many head there to hike, bike, bird watch, or just relax. Other parks are scattered throughout the county where you can commune with nature. Finally, sports must be mentioned when talking about Dallas County, and here, sports means FOOTBALL. Even though the Dallas Cowboys aren't technically based in Dallas County, their fan base is certainly in the area, and during football season, every television in the county is tuned in to the Cowboys game. Pro football isn't the only passion around here, though, as many Dallas Countians take their college ball just as seriously.
